Day 2 wrap from the 9th Phuket International Cricket Sixes 2012
19 April 2012

The KGSG was awash with both runs and water today on Day 2 of the ICC award winning Phuket International Cricket Sixes underway in Phuket, Thailand.

Heavy rain this morning resulted in play of Day 2 of the Phuket International Cricket Sixes being abandoned for the day at lunchtime. The decision was made by tournament officials at 12.30pm due to large amounts of standing water across the field and continuing rain making play impossible. Only 2 matches of the 16 scheduled were completed.

Defending Cup champions, St Francis Camels from Australia defeated the local thai boys of the PCDC Natives by 38 runs, despite some tight bowling from "J", "Tae" and "Best" of the Natives. The PCDC Natives scored 36 runs in reply to the St Francis score of 74 runs.

In the other completed match Toorak Prahan from Australia were defeated by Skylarks from Kuwait by 5 wickets. Batting first Toorak posted a challenging total of 80 runs with S. Bray and Skiba both retiring having reached 32 and 33 not out respectively. It was a large ask, but the Skylarks rose to the challenge. Razak and Johnny smashed the Toorak bowling to all parts of the ground, and they both retired not out having guided their team to a win with just one ball to spare.

Unfortunately play was interrupted by further rain in the third match match of the day between Phuket debutants Leederville CC and local favourites the Karon Sea Sanders after the Phuket team had posted a total of 57 runs in their innings.

Day 3's playing schedule has been amended to accommodate additional matches which could not take place today. Play will commence at an earlier time of 8am tomorrow to help complete the schedule for round one of the tournament. Finals day will be on Sunday.
